How to Avoid a Bed Bug Infestation
Bedbugs are an epidemic. They are being battled against in big cities such as San Francisco, LA, New York City, and Chicago. Bedbugs or their eggs can hitchhike and will travel from other countries before they get in your bed. Bedbugs are brownish-red in color, and they turn a darker color after feeding. This article will give you the information you need to combat these hard to get rid of bugs!
Things You'll Need:
* Flashlight
* Vacuum cleaner with a crack and crevice tool
* Inspection
First, try to find live bedbugs and locate the source of where they are living. Look for dried blood on your sheets. Look for evidence of bedbugs. They leave stains of feces where they are living. Take a flashlight and inspect your bed frame, mattress and headboard.
Inspect all furniture in other rooms. Check behind pictures and mirrors on the wall. Inspect wallpaper and around moldings.
Wash all your linens in hot water separate from your regular wash. Seal all your linens in a plastic bag. Vacuum all carpets particularly around baseboards everyday. Dispose of the vacuum bag.
Call a professional exterminator. Bed bug jobs should range from $300 to $600 per treatment per room with a 30 day guarantee. The longer the exterminator stays in your home the better. Find out how long the procedure is going to take and what the company's strategy is for getting rid of the bedbugs. One of the better procedures for getting rid of bed bugs is to apply steam heat to the mattress. Treating with a residual spray and insect growth regulator. Find out if they are going to use an insecticide dust in the cracks and crevices. An insecticide dust is a must in the cracks and crevices and electrical outlets. Call your exterminating company back within a week to come back and inspect for further evidence.
Have a carpet cleaner steam clean your carpets after the procedure is done.
Good luck in getting rid of these pesky bugs!

How to Determine if you have RATS
All of a sudden you start hearing some noise coming from your attic. You have no idea what the noise is about. So you take your ladder and stick your head up in the attic. What you see is large dropping when you shine your flashlight. You determine it is a rat that has caused the noise and the dropping. What should you do to get rid of them? Follow our step by step procedure and we will assist you in trapping these difficult to get rodents.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
* Flashlight
* Rat Snap Traps
* Rat sized glue boards
* Right sized ladder
The first step is to do a thorough inspection of the interior and exterior of your home or business. The first thing you are looking for is the rat droppings. Many times you can determine where the rat is hanging out by finding where the droppings are. Start by vacuuming the rat droppings wherever they have been seen and set traps in these places.
Once you completed your inspection and you have determined where and how they are getting inside your property. Always use a bright flashlight and if you come across a live rat, do not attack the rat. Do not corner it and try to be brave. The good thing is that the rat is just as scared of you as you are scared of the rats. Start out by purchasing rat snap traps. Rats, unlike mice, are very cautious. What this means is that the rat will shy away from new objects.
Always wear unlined gloves and do not smoke or have any heavy odor on your hands when placing the snap traps. Have the rats get use to eating off the traps for the first few days. Professional pest control exterminators call that pre-baiting. Once you feel the rats are used to the traps and are eating the peanut butter off the traps, set the snap traps. At this point you should hopefully get the rat that is bothering you or decrease the population depending on the degree of the rat infestation.
I also suggest using large glue boards. The glue boards probably will not catch the rats but if they do get stuck and get off the glue boards the rats will start getting beat up a bit.
When dealing with rats it is a good idea to call a licensed pest control operator to help you get rid of the rodents. Let's face it rats are scary. Do not stress yourself personally. Get a professional.
Happy hunting!
Tips & Warnings
*
Always wear a mask and gloves when dealing with dead rodents.
*
Rats are cautious, do not set the traps you have laid out for the first few days.
*
Use peanut butter to attract the rats to the traps.
*
Do not corner or attack a rat

How to Eliminate Mice
How to Eliminate Mice
The Pest Expert
888-379-7775 http://www.sfpestexpert.com
Are you being annoyed by mice? Have they gotten into your home and you have no idea how to stop them? We have the answers to your mice problems. Follow our step by step instructions to assist you in finally getting rid of the rodents.
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
* Flashlight
* Snap traps
* Glue boards
* Copper mesh or steel wool
* Screw driver to stuff the copper mesh or steel wool tight
* Vacuum cleaner
The mice have made it in your home. The first question most people want to know is how did the mice get in here in the first place? Where did they come from? The first step is to make a thorough inspection of your home. Start on the outside and look for holes through which mice can enter. Next, check the bottoms of all the doors to your home. If daylight is visible on the bottom of the door, get a door sweep to stop the mice from entering from the outside.
The next step would be to close the holes around any openings or cracks in the foundation of your prized possession - your home.
Now direct your attention to the interior of your home. Put out glue boards and snap traps on the inside of your home. Start with the garage and around your hot water heater. Mice always find the warmth of the hot water heater, so you always want to put traps around it.
Next, open the door to the attic and pop your head in. Make sure your ladder is tall enough for you to be able to get your head in the attic. You never want to step on the top rung of the ladder. It is a long fall if you lose your balance. Always use the right sized ladder for the occasion. Around the opening of the attic, put some snap traps and glue boards in reach, so if you catch something, you can easily remove any mice caught on the traps.
Now, set traps in the crawl space or basement, again within arms length reach for easy removal. We do not suggest that you use mouse poison inside your home, because if the rodent ingests the poison and dies inside a wall or somewhere inaccessible, you might have an odor problem in your house. That is the last thing you want.
Once all your holes are closed and your traps are set, put small amounts of mice poison on the outside of your home. However, make sure it is in a locked rodent size bait station that is safe for children and pets. Check your traps as often as possible, to make sure you dispose of anything you have caught as quickly as possible.
To clean-up your mice droppings, make sure to wear a mask over your face so you do not breathe in any mice droppings or dust. Also, make sure to use a disinfectant, like Lysol, to spray the mice droppings before vacuuming the droppings up. Sweeping the droppings will make the dust and the mice droppings airborne, so be careful. Never touch dead mice with your bare hands. Always wear unlined gloves when dealing with any pest control situation.
To remove the mice when you find them on the traps, always have a box or a bag with you and sweep them into the it. Again, be careful to dispose of them out of the reach of children. Keep inspecting on an ongoing basis.
Happy hunting!
Tips & Warnings
*
Sanitation is the first step in eliminating and controlling mice.
*
Make sure to clean up any clutter in your house, garage and basement.
*
Always clean up dog feces in the backyard.
*
Always throw away your vacuum bag after cleaning up mouse droppings.
*
Always close any holes, the size of a dime and larger, to exclude mice from entering.
*
Make sure you have door sweeps on any door leading from the outside, to prevent the mice from entering.
*
Use plaster to close holes on the inside of the home and consider quick drying cement to close holes on the outside.
*
Be extra careful if you use any type of mouse poison.
*
Remember, you have to put the mouse poison in small quantities because mice only eat small amount at a time.
*
Do not leave any debris around the outside of your home.
*
If you use poison, it might take several feedings for mice to die.
*

How to Eliminate Roaches
How to Eliminate Cockroaches
By The Pest Expert
888-379-7775 http://sfpestexpert.com This article is about how to really eliminate cockroaches in your home! Your home or apartment can be infested in no time. You can kill roaches yourself if you follow my step by step procedure.
Things You'll Need:
* Flashlight and strong lighting
* Vacuum cleaner with a long hose
* Roach spray that contains pyre thrum
* Hot hair dryer
* Roach gel
* Roach bomb for badly infested kitchens
The first step is to empty and clean all of your cabinets in the kitchen. Use air tight food bags to seal all your open pantry food. Do the same in all pantry closets. You can use plastic containers to seal, cover and store your food away from the kitchen.
Next, move your refrigerator off the back of the wall. Take all utensil drawers out of the cabinets. Your goal is to empty the kitchen as much as possible but be careful not to bring roaches into other rooms of your home.
Locate where the roaches are living. Roaches are attracted to heat. What this means is that most times the roaches will be living in the cabinet that is closest to the stove, in the upper corners of the crevices of the cabinet and underneath the crevices of the sink. They will also be behind the refrigerator, living in the motor and in and around the dishwasher.
Next, take your flashlight and while shining it inside the cabinets or any dark cracks or crevices, you should be able to see where the cockroaches are hiding. You can start out by having your hair dryer connected to an extension cord and start blowing the heat of the hair dryer into the cracks in the cabinets and behind the refrigerator. This will irritate the roaches and start forcing them out of their hiding places. If you do not mind using an insecticide, you can follow-up using a pyre thrum based aerosol and treat the cracks and crevices. Be sure to wear a mask if you use the insecticide. Read the label carefully and follow the instructions. The label is the law. Leave the room for 10 to 15 minutes after using the pyre thrum to allow time for it to dissipate.
Now that you have irritated the roaches and forced them out of their hiding places, take your vacuum cleaner and start vacuuming the roaches up as you find them. To kill roaches, you must find where they are hiding. Make sure to inspect all kitchen appliances as roaches can hide anywhere. You must make sure to do a thorough crack and crevice treatment, and then vacuum the entire kitchen thoroughly.
Once you are confident that you have killed and then vacuumed all the live and dead roaches, take the roach gel and apply the gel in the corners where the roaches were living. Roaches do leave feces in the corners and any new roaches will be attracted to the feces. Apply the roach gel in the cracks where the feces is pasted. Any left over roaches will be attracted to the feces and will end up contacting the roach gel. Be sure to apply it sparingly with lots of little placements. Do not use like it caulking; just use little dabs where it is not visible.
You can also set a roach bomb once you have finished the procedure for added protection. Make sure to shut off the pilot light on your stove. Repeat the steps once a week for 3 or 4 weeks if needed.
Tips & Warnings
Throw away the vacuum bag after you are finished.
Wear a mask while doing the procedure.
Use a caulking gun and clear caulk to seal off cracks, crevices or any holes where roaches may harbor.
Read the labels on any insecticides used. The label is the law.
Follow all instructions.

How to Attack RATS
Rats live in your attic, crawl space and garage. Go to your local hardware store and purchase rat sized snap traps and rat sized glue boards. Using the right sized ladder, pop your head in the attic and put out several traps around the door in arms length. For the first few days, just put some peanut butter on the traps and do not set the traps for a few days to have the rats get use to the traps. Rats are very cautious. After a few days set the traps and have out the largest size glue traps possible. The point is to wear the rodent out and have the rodent hit into several traps and start getting beaten up. In the garage set rat traps around the perimeter and hot water heater. The rats are looking for warmth. Always make sure to keep the rat traps away from children. Open your crawl space door under the house and set rat snap traps and glue boards around the door in arms length for easy removal. Check every few days. How People Defeat Bed Bugs

Bed Bug infestations are becoming more common around the country. Places like New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Ohio, are reporting an epidemic of Bed Bugs. Over the last 10 years Bed Bugs have exploded in homes. What is the cause of the rise in Bed Bugs? Some people say that because the decline in the effectiveness of the chemicals from 30 years ago is the problem. I do not buy into that theory. The chemicals that are used today are very effective.
First check your mattress and box spring. They are called Bed Bugs, because they like to hide in your bed. Flip the mattress. box spring and furniture over and take a flashlight, start checking all the seams and crevices of the bedding and furniture. You are looking for tiny brown spots in the seams of the mattress, box spring and furniture. You need to inspect nightstands, dresser draws, bed frames, curtains and closets. You are also looking for live and dead bed bugs as well.
Bed Bugs are small, flat, wingless insects with six legs, like mosquitoes, feed on blood from humans and animals. They range in color from white to brown, but they turn rusty red after feeding. The common Bed Bug does not grow longer then 0.2 inches and can be seen by the naked eye if present. Bed Bugs can hide almost any where in your living area. http://sfpestexpert.com/Bedbuginfo.aspx
How to prepare for a Bed Bug treatment.
Wash and dry all your clothes, linens, including pillows shams, and even curtains for at least 30 minutes. Put your belongings in air tight plastic bags to make sure new Bed Bugs cannot get into your belongings. Prepare your moving space like you are moving to give the exterminator full access to your living space. Empty all drawers and dressers. Remove books from book shelves. Consistently vacuum every day and always dispose of the vacuum bag.
Treating a Bed Bug Infestation.
The first thing you always do when treating a Bed Bug infestation is always to inspect first. My first piece of Bed Bug equipment is a steam machine. Start by steaming the mattress and box spring. The steam kills the Bed Bugs and eggs. The most important thing the steam does is drive the Bed Bugs out of the seams and crevices from the velocity of the steam coming out the steam machine and makes it easier to find the insects and kill them faster. When using chemicals to drive the Bed Bugs out of where they are living I use Pyrethrum. The first and most imporant chemical in any pest control program. Most people when they use a Pyrethrum based chemical says it does not work. That is because most people do not understand that Pyrethrum use is to drive the Bugs out from where they are living. Then you can use a direct contact chemical that will kill them on contact. You can take off the front of the electrical switches and treat with a dust such as Delta
dust or Drione powder. As you are treating you are inspecting constantly in search of the dreaded Bug Bug.
Vacuuming and living clutter FREE
Now you inspected, prepared and initially treated your Bed Bug infestation, you need to consistently vacuum your living area. Vacuum the mattress and box spring for starters. Vacuum all the furniture and the seams around the walls and carpeting. You do not want to leave any dust or hair balls in the house. Do not accumulate a lot of unused stuff, be smart and dispose of any unused materials in your living space giving less room for the Bed Bugs to hide in your home.
After the initial treatment.
Now that your initial treatment is done you need to keep inspecting and have the exterminator come back within 14 days of treatment. Bed Bug eggs generally hatch in less then 21 day, so you need to re-inspect and treat again if necessary. Have your carpets steam cleaned for added protection.

Heats Kills BED BUGS
The Pest Expert is now using an electric portable steam cleaner to battle the Bed Bug epidemic in the San Francisco Bay area. The Pest Expert is using a true integrated pest management methodology by combining heat with a chemical treatment. The result has been a careful and thorough treatment. We are now finding less Bed Bugs on our follow-up treatments. By treating with steam means that you will get a quick knock down of the Bed Bug population. It helps us to find the source quicker thus leading to a better kill the first time. Plus the heat from the steam kills the Bed Bug eggs.
We also feel sanitation plays a huge role. The less clutter you have then the less places the Bed Bugs have to hide. We recommend disposing of things you don't need that can lead to further infestation. You must vacuum thoroughly and dispose of the vacuum bag after. We recommend using a bagless vacuum. Contact The Pest Expert for a FREE ESTIMATE.

Introducing the SF Bed Bug Specialists.
I have over 25 years of pest control experience. I am going to share my knowledge and skills of eliminating Bed Bugs in San Francisco. The bed bugs have made a resurgence over the past few years. They are living in hotels and apartments buildings. If you do nothing to eliminate them, they will continue to grow. There is no known documented cases that Bed Bugs cause disease but their bites can be really nasty. They bite in the early morning hours. Usually they bite in clusters of three in a row, which are called breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We will share our experiences of eliminating Bed Bugs.
